They say Annaprasana (ChorOonu) is a Hindu ceremony that marks an infant's first intake of food(usually rice). But for me it was a day when I was graduated from liquid food to something really yummy prepared diligently and lovingly by my Ammamma...
I realized that June 11th, 2009 was a special day the moment I was dressed in a beautiful traditional outfit and gold ornaments.
The ceremony started at around 9:15am amidst chanting of sacred hymns. I think my family was impressed with me because I participated in the entire ceremony with charm as I was fascinated with all what was going on around me.
The pooja went on for an hour and a half. I sat there all the while waiting and hoping to get some food soon.
And finally the moment arrived. My Daddy dipped the gold ring in the payasam and put the first bite in my mouth..
For a few minutes I thought that just 3 scoops of rice in a ring is all that I am going to get..which undoubtedly made me upset
Luckily the process of feeding me continued...By Mamma, Ammamma, Nanu and Mom-Dad's friends.
And I went home with a full tummy with my parents, Nanu and Ammamma
